What this app is

Magdalene's Diary is a private application built by Daniel Eastwood to track the development, wellbeing, and daily life of Magdalene Eastwood. It is not a public service. Access is by invitation only.

What data we collect

  • Your name and email address (provided when your account is created)
  • Diary entries you write, including text, photos, videos, and audio recordings
  • Metadata from photos and videos, including timestamps and GPS coordinates if present in the file
  • Mood, sleep, and food information you choose to log
  • Login timestamps and basic activity logs (for security and legal audit purposes)
  • Notification preferences you set

How data is stored

Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Neon (a US-based cloud provider). Media files (photos, video, audio) are stored on Cloudflare R2. Both providers operate under standard data processing agreements. Data is not shared with any third party except as described in this policy.

Who has access

  • Daniel Eastwood (admin): Full access to all data in the app
  • Contributors (support workers, family): Can add entries and see the diary. Cannot see other contributors' private notes or access admin functions.
  • No one else has access. There is no public registration.

Legal use

This diary is also used as a legally credible evidence record in ongoing family court proceedings (Case No: NG23P00807, Nottingham Family Court). Entries, amendments, and audit logs may be exported and submitted to the court. By contributing entries, you confirm that your contributions are accurate to the best of your knowledge.

Data retention

Data is retained indefinitely while the application is active. Signed entries are permanent and cannot be deleted. Other entries may be deleted by Daniel (admin). If the application is shut down, data will be securely exported and deleted within 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to request a copy of your personal data, to request corrections, and to request deletion of your account and associated data. Requests can be made via the settings page, or by contacting Daniel directly.

Note: entries you have contributed that are referenced in legal proceedings may not be deletable under legal hold obligations.
